Musical stories of connection and change
Discover the intimate, musical journey of the Marmoucha Orchestra in Wandering Roots, a unique performance in which rich cultural legacies come together with innovative improvisations. This internationally compiled ensemble, with members from Spain, Germany, Iran and Lebanon, brings a fascinating mix of jazz, acoustic world music and personal stories to stage.
Every member of this ensemble came to the Netherlands to study, but decided to stay a new artistics and with Marmoucha Orchestra. In Wandering Roots they share the challenges and the obstacles that they encountered along the way. Their music reflects their search for identity, balancing between their roots and their new home in the Netherlands. Although they do not feel completely at home anywhere, they recognize each other in this shared state of "not belonging", which forms a powerful connection.
The transforming power of migration
In this project, each musician enters its own compositions, which are collectively refined into a harmonious whole. The musicians interwoven traditional styles - from Armenian melodies and Andalusian passion to Moroccan influences and modern electronic textures - with contemporary jazz and improvisation. This democratic method leads to a sparkling new sound that makes the transforming power of migration tangible.
Wandering Roots is a celebration of musical diversity and an ode to the resilience of migration. Door traditionele stijlen te koppelen aan een moderne context creëert Marmoucha Orchestra een vernieuwend geluid dat resoneert bij een breed publiek.

Expect sounds from singer-songwriters, hip hop and soul to dance and street theater, with artists from here and there, but always in Tune with the neighborhood.
