The childhood of seven-year-old Joachim (Camille Loup Moltzen), who lives with his family in a villa on the premises of child and adolescent psychiatry, is not common. Joachim's father Richard (Devid Striesow) is the director of the clinic. Joachim and his father feel most comfortable among the patients. The patients are their friends. They can do without the society of the "others", the "normal". Joachim's mother Iris (Laura Tonke) is different. She longs for a sophisticated environment and mourns her youth adventure in Italy. Only gradually does Joachim recognize that his family idyll is a fragile construct.
