Bridges of Understanding: How to motivate Roma pupils and engage their parents
The workshop is focused on teachers who work with Roma children in their class and seek effective ways to motivate them to learn and at the same time establish cooperation with their families. Together we look at the specifics of the cultural and social environment of Roma pupils, the most common barriers in communication between school and family and on the road to overcome them. involve parents and how to build trust with them,

Lecturer: Mgr. Michal Sivák - teacher and lecturer specializing in inclusive education and support of the Roma community. He worked as a teacher and mentor in various schools and communities in Slovakia, including Luník IX. He is currently working as a lecturer and supervisor at the Roma Educational Fund and as an ambassador of inclusive education in the Council of Europe. It focuses on training, mentoring and creation of educational programs for teachers and pupils with an emphasis on combating anti -Roma racism, promoting equality and approach to education. His approach combines inclusive methods with pedagogy focused on talents and talents, proving that quality education is always based on respect for the uniqueness of the child. He also worked as a methodologist in the State Pedagogical Institute, the projects evaluator at the Pontis Foundation and the moderator of the educational program for Roma children in RTVS. As a proud Roma, he believes that education is the key to social change, and he sees his mission as a tool for building bridges between communities.
