WEEK TEGEN DE EENZAAMHEID // Rondleiding Oude Kerk

The old church was regarded as the "Huyskamer of Amsterdam for centuries." It was a lively meeting place next to the prayer house and the building always fulfilled a connecting role in urban and social life. Every chapel got its own interpretation. From the poor care in the Sebastiaanskapel, to the first urban archive in the mysterious iron chapel. Sailors dried their ship sailing in the side aisles and countless loved ones signed their marriage certificate in the romantic mirror room. The old church has that versatile, social function to this day.
