Agnes van Laar and Janneke Stoute - soprano, 2 violins, viola da gamba, bassoon/dulcian, organ/harpsichord
The Christmas season has always been very inspiring for composers. The story, with the baby Jesus in a manger, the angels, the shepherds with the sheep and the three kings, is a fascinating scene that provided a lot of beautiful music. Apollo provides a special Christmas program every year. Cantatas and motets by Dietrich Buxtehude, Matthias Weckmann and Christoph Bernhard alternate with festive instrumental music.
