About event
How am I enough for myself? – Looking for love & acceptance in an age of chaos & doubt. Reading & conversation with Finja Schürmann & Ann Marien
"Toxic Love" (2025) is a dramatic Berlin novel about love bombing, gaslighting, psychological and physical violence against women and the search for oneself. It's about two young people who come together from different worlds, but are then swept away by a whirlpool of fear, anger, aggression and ego. »1000 Thoughts« (2025), on the other hand, is a true story about the search for love, affection and recognition, a search for oneself.
Alternating between reading and conversation, Finja Schürmann and Ann Marien will discuss personal challenges and how they were able to free themselves from crises through writing. Her themes are psychological problems, violence and emotional abuse.
Finja Schürmann was born in Dortmund in 2002 and grew up on the picturesque Baltic Sea coast. After completing her bachelor's degree in political science in Berlin, she completed a master's degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Schürmann works as a senior analyst in Berlin. She has been writing novels, plays, poems and short stories since she was 14 years old. »Toxic Love« is her debut novel.
Ann Marien was born in East Berlin in 1965. After reunification, she worked independently in retail and later became branch manager of a bakery. Ann Marien has been working in the psychiatric care system since 2014. She provides integration assistance to mentally ill people. “1000 Thoughts” is about these topics.
Admission: €7 / reduced €5
