In an infectious way, Olga de Haan talks about the life and economy of Amsterdam from 300 meters of Prins Hendrikkade. She discusses the development of shipbuilding, for the VOC and the Admiralty, colonial wares in pharmacies of the XVII century and the origins of shares and the insurance industry. From the IJgracht she sees the Waalseiland built for the rich and how living and working are becoming separated. All kinds of issues that you have always wanted to understand better are discussed and connections are made. She looks out onto the IJ from the IJgracht, so that seafaring plays an unobtrusive leading role in her story.
