FURTHER INFO:
We are looking forward to providing the experience of African expressive dance in Bratislava as well. Afro-dance enjoys worldwide popularity and more modern genres are in fashion, which are danced to reproduced music.
But West African expressive dance brings us back to the roots, when the dancer is directly connected to the musicians and they communicate with each other. Dance and music are one whole, and rhythms and dance steps are associated with a specific social event/celebration. Anyone can dance and spectators become dancers in a matter of seconds.
In our workshop we will learn the dance steps of Kpanlogo rhythm (Ghana). We will orient ourselves according to the live music that will play for us. We will try steps that are gentler and more physically demanding. Even beginners can do it, and at the same time we know how to awaken the best in more advanced dancers.
TEACHER: Bibiana Púčiková has been dedicated to West African expressive dance for over 15 years, led dance workshops and danced at the performances of the Afro-drumming bands JAMADAN and AFRO CAMPANA. In January 2024, she visited Ghana, where she intensively learned local dances and rhythms. But we know her mainly as an experienced musician who knows the drums and percussion of Africa and Brazil. He actively plays in the bands JAMADAN, MARIBONDO and SAMBA DE RODA.
DRUMMERS: members of the JAMADAN group (www.jamadan.sk), who have been on the scene for 20 years and, in addition to concerts and drum shows, have been organizing drumming workshops for a long time, interactive drumming as team building and African dance workshops
