About event

Are you interested in how archaeologists can accurately date historical finds using natural science methods? As part of the Europe-wide European Days of Archeology event, the Slovak National Museum - Archaeological Museum cordially invites you to an extremely interesting professional workshop connected with the opening of a new exhibition entitled "Radiocarbon and dendrochronological dating in archeology and cultural heritage research: theory and practice". During this particular event, you will learn which materials are suitable for dating, how samples are prepared from them in the laboratory, what microscopic analysis can reveal and how the obtained data is evaluated. The author of the exhibition and at the same time the professional guide of the workshop will be the recognized expert Mgr. Peter Barta, PhD. from the Department of Archeology of the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra. This lecture and the opening of the exhibition are part of a much wider three-day festival - the European Days of Archaeology.
