Forró is a popular dance style and musical a genre originating in northeastern Brazil. The dance and music developed mainly in the 20th century and are now widely popular throughout Brazil and are gradually spreading to other parts of the world.

Characteristics of the Forró dance:
1. Rhythm and Music: Forró is based on lively and catchy music, usually composed of accordion, zabumba (big drum) and triangle. The rhythm is fast and energetic, which makes the dance very dynamic and fun.
2. Dance style: Forró is danced in pairs and emphasizes the closeness of the partners. It is known for its intimate and tight dance position, where partners often hold their bodies close to each other, especially in traditional Forró Pé de Serra styles. The basic steps are fairly simple, but the dance allows for many variations and combinations, including turns and other movements that dancers use for creative expression.
3. Different styles: There are several sub-styles of Forró, for example:
- Forró Pé de Serra: Traditional style with simple steps and strong closeness between partners.
- Forró Universitário: A more modern style that originated in Brazilian universities, with a larger with an emphasis on technique and dance variations.
- Forró Eletrônico: A modern version with electronic elements that combines traditional rhythms with modern sounds.
