Workshopdag Balfolk met Augustas Černiauskas

This is your chance to have more fun dancing. On Sunday, November 23, Augustas Černiauskas will come to the Netherlands for two super educational workshops.

During the first workshop we will spend some time focusing on the basics, good technique, fun in dancing and dance posture. This is especially for dancers who are new to Balfolk and dancers who want to further refine their basics.

In the second workshop we go into more depth. This is especially for dancers who already know the basics of common dances and are ready for new challenges. Expect more subtle forms of playing and variation in dancing and attention to better following and leading.

💃🕺 WORKSHOP 1 - Following and leading the Augustas way (open level)

This is the workshop that many dancers have requested, in this dance workshop Augustas shares his experience with leading and following in couple dancing. What helps you in leading or following, what hinders you, how you should position yourself, and what is going on inside you? You get the knowledge and insight of Augustas, so a disclaimer is in order: there is no one way to lead or follow in dance. Augustas will only share his insight.

Prior knowledge: Some experience with Balfolk helps to grow in your role as a follower or leader in this workshop.

💃🕺 WORKSHOP 2 - Waltz variations and dynamics (intermediate dancers)

Augustas' favorite dance is the waltz, so a workshop on the waltz and its dynamics should not be missed. The workshop consists of the following parts:
-Steps you can use in a waltz
-How to speed up your rotation
-How to change the dynamics of the waltz
-How to add figures

Prerequisite knowledge: We assume that you have a reasonable command of the basics of the Waltz.

AUGUSTAS ČERNIAUSKAS
Augustas Černiauskas has 14 years of experience in traditional dances from Lithuania. Since 2018 he has also been giving workshops throughout Europe (Balfolk). He is best known for his workshops in Polka and Waltz. That he is a good dancer is evident from the prizes he won. In 2018, he placed third in a traditional polka competition and came second in another polka competition. Later he was nominated for “The Best Polka Dancer” in one of the Lithuanian dance clubs. In addition, he was nominated in 2023 for "Dancers who honor tradition in a modern way". You can also expect a good dose of teaching experience. He has already taught dance in Lithuania, Portugal (Lisbon and Coimbra), Poland (Warsaw and Krakow), Latvia (Riga), Spain (Cercedilla), France (Lyon and Gennetines), Bulgaria (Sofia), Belgium (Ghent and Brussels) and the Czech Republic (Prague).

📍 LOCATION
In the streets around CanDance Studios, parking is free on weekends and weekdays after 7:00 PM. The location is easily accessible by public transport.

Isolatorweg 28, 1014AS Amsterdam

- Walking from Amsterdam Sloterdijk Station takes +/- 15 minutes.
- Take the bus, which leaves every 10 minutes from the station.
- The metro to the Isolatorweg terminal departs every 5 minutes during the day from Sloterdijk station. From this stop it is a 3-minute walk (260 meters).
- International: from the FlixBus stop Sloterdijk Amsterdam it is a 15-minute walk to CanDance Studios.
