About event
We invite you to the new exhibition The Internship by Yu-Hsuan Yao, a Taiwanese artist living in Finland. It is prepared as part of the international project E75 ART BUS in cooperation with the Finnish organization MUU ry and the program of the European Capital of Culture Oulu 2026.
What happens when authorship ceases to belong to a person?
The Internship exhibition presents a project that explores the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence through a staged work situation: an artist begins an "internship" with an AI. Over a period of time, he receives instructions from an artificial intelligence named Magnus and transforms them into physical works of art. Gradually, however, the initially clear structure breaks down and the boundaries between authorship, cooperation and obedience blur.
Where is the boundary between cooperation and dependence? The exhibition combines dialogues with AI and a personal video diary that records the changing relationship to technology - from control and resistance to uncertainty, attachment and trust.
• Opening: April 14, 6 p.m.
• Curator: Soňa Jakubove
• Exhibition duration: April 15 - June 25, 2026
• Address: Čepan Gallery, Nádvorie, Štefánikova 3, Trnava. You can find more information about the event at this link: fb.me/e/6OjMNbX5u
• Yu-Hsuan Yao
Yao is a Taiwanese visual artist living in Finland. In his work, he primarily focuses on performance and installations, while using visual media to reflect on specific social and institutional situations, such as the functioning of art institutions, bureaucratic processes or mechanisms of power and representation.
• E75 ART BUS
E75 Art Bus is an international project in cooperation with the Finnish organization MUU ry within the framework of the European Capital of Culture Oulu 2026 program. It is based on the route of the European route E75, which measures 5,639 kilometers and connects the north of Norway with Crete. An international group of artists selected through an open call completed residencies in the countries along this route. In April 2026, they will embark on a joint journey across Europe, during which they will stop in various cities and present their projects to the public. One of the stops will be Trnava, where the project will be presented in the form of an exhibition, presentations and meetings of Slovak and Finnish artists.
The operation of the gallery is supported by the Nádvorie, the City of Trnava and the Trnava self-governing region.
The project was created as part of the collaboration between MUU ry (the national Finnish association of artists) and the cultural magazine Kaltio from northern Finland. The project is part of the Oulu 2026 European Capital of Culture program.
