About event
Yumi Ito - vocals, piano, composition (CH / PL / JP)
Alessio Cazzetta - guitar (IT/SA)
Nadav Erlich - double bass (IL)
Iago Fernández - drums (ES)
Yumi Ito creates musical worlds with voice and piano that overcome all boundaries. The Swiss-Polish-Japanese musician is considered one of the most unique voices on the European scene. Her music lives between art pop, jazz and neoclassical, permeated by improvisation, intuition and a deeply personal expressiveness. As if Tori Amos and Norah Jones had written film music for a Debussy biopic with Ólafur Arnalds.
Yumi Ito has developed from an insider tip to a star on the European scene and delights audiences and critics alike with her individual and soulful style. Born into a family of musicians, she studied in Zurich and Basel with renowned lecturers, including Jeff Ballard and Bobby McFerrin. Located in the area between pop and jazz, Yumi interprets both her own songs and covers, always with her own sensitive and dreamy touch. The winner of the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition has already worked with Mark Turner, Becca Stevens and Al Jarreau.
«Stardust Crystals» (2020) was listed as one of the best albums of the year by Jazz thing and Bandcamp. “Ysla” (2023) continued these successes with widespread media coverage and concerts around the world. SWR2 Jazz named Yumi Ito “vocal discovery of the year”. On September 19, 2025, her first solo album, “Lonely Island,” was released by enja yellowbird records. A new work with her band will follow in 2026.
