About event
On the occasion of the World Art Day, the Tourist Information Office of the city of Žilina, in cooperation with the Považ Art Gallery in Žilina, has prepared an exceptional program that connects the history of the city with its current cultural space.
The double program will begin with an ascent to the Renaissance Burian tower, where visitors can enjoy a panoramic view of Žilina. Subsequently, the group will move to the premises of the Považ Art Gallery. Part of the tour will not only be talking about history, but also visiting current exhibitions. For example, you will be enchanted by a look at the First Museum of Intermedia or a selection of works by a prominent artist and native of the Žilina region, Vincent Hložník.
The main attraction of the event will be a visit to the newly renovated attic of the gallery. These spaces are currently breathing in preparations for a big milestone – this is where a large-scale exhibition is being prepared for the 50th anniversary of the gallery's founding. The participants of the tour will be among the first to see these modern spaces before they become the scene of the celebration of half a century of the gallery's existence.
