The exhibition From the depths of beech forests reflects the transformations of the environment, in which the boundaries between architecture and nature are gradually blurred. The home, as the rest of the human presence, becomes a medium of memory and transformation. The material of the landscape, in which there is no relationship of forest versus man or natural-human, artificial-natural, because no one has power over anyone and anything. The exhibition looks for the possibilities of new relationships between the human and natural environment and their image, in which the house turns into stone and the ashes into a house.
Simona Novická *1997
studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in the Free Sculpture Studio under the direction of Štefan Papč. She participated in several exhibitions in Slovakia and abroad; currently lives and works in Bratislava. With a feeling for the material, he devotes himself to object creation and installation; in his work he works with the theme of memory, everyday life, time and processuality. Her works are quiet, poetic and sensitive; he often connects natural and urban environments, where he emphasizes the authenticity and imperfection of the material.
Martin Hrvol *1989
is a graduate of master's studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava. He is mainly devoted to the creation of spatial installations, often working with natural materials, thematizing myths and working with architectural forms. He is the winner of the ninth edition of the EXIT 2019 prize. He is currently working as a doctoral student at the Department of Sculpture, Object, Installation at VŠVU.
"Objects depict the state after a certain crisis. Errors caused by the consequences of weather conditions or anthropological pressure, thereby depicting a certain temporality. It is also about the ability of resistance and flexibility. The ability of a material or human identity to succumb to a crisis and resist pressure. It's also about recognizing the moment when things don't go as planned. About the ability to understand the context for our participation in life, when I become an interpretation for part of the world. And not only as an identity, but also as a material and nature."
We look forward to your visit.
The project was supported from public resources by the Art Support Fund.
