As soon as the daytime traffic dies down on the forest roads, the leaves in the treetops absorb the last rays of the sun and the ponds turn into endless black pools, bats take their first evening flight. They circle between trees, fly over bodies of water, and while singing, whose ultrasonic waves shine into the darkness like searchlights, they search for something to eat...
... and this is the perfect opportunity to see them inconspicuously and listen to their inaudible voices with the help of an ultrasonic detector.
As always, you can join us on the Behind the Prague Bats excursion. 🙂
With the help of an ultrasound detector, we will find out how rich the sound repertoire of bats is and how different species of bats differ from each other in their voices, 17 of which are demonstrably found in Prague. We will try to learn to distinguish them and present their specific features.
One of the domesticated, permanently handicapped bats will accompany us on the expedition.
Lecturers from the Czech Society for the Protection of Bats will provide expert guidance of the bat excursion.

📌 Wednesday 10 June, Stromovka, meeting at 21:00 in front of Šlechtová restaurant (https://mapy.cz/s/cogevanume)
🕰 the excursion lasts about an hour
🔦 we recommend bringing a flashlight and clothing and shoes suitable for the terrain
✨ the event is free
We ask those interested to register their participation in advance by calling 775 018 630 or by e-mail [email protected] (excursion capacity is limited, one excursion can accommodate about 20-25 participants).
ATTENTION, the excursion will only take place in suitable weather (not in heavy rain, strong wind or when it is very cold - we wouldn't hear much from the bats).
We are looking forward to it and we are curious how many bats this time we will hear. 😊
