About event
On the walk, participants will look at two interesting Art Nouveau buildings by Emil Králíček, a designer at the company Matěj Blech, a falconry and a unique church of St. Vojtěch. They will not miss the castle with its fascinating history. They will go to the former Zámecký vrch, where at the end of the 19th century the genius František Thomayer designed the landscape park that today bears his name. This landscape architect, gardener, nursery teacher, pomologist is an unjustly neglected personality, without whom Prague would lose part of its charms. The guide will try to correct this injustice and tell something about his life and work.
The tour will also visit the sites of the port that no longer exists, so that the participants can see what kind of modern luxury district has been created here. On that occasion, they will talk about the regulation of the Vltava and shipping. He discovers the connection between Libeň Island and the writer, archaeologist and pedagogue Eduard Štorch. The walk will end within sight of the Svět Palace, which is hopefully saved and waiting for the future.
