since August across the EU, including Slovakia, is valid for a new European Act on Freedom of Media. For the first time, the legislation is clearly said that governments cannot interfere with the functioning of the editors. Robert Fico's fourth government has enforced the reform of the public service media. RTVS change was accompanied by protests by editors, testimonies and criticism of international institutions. The government also pushed through a new right to repair, which is valid from August 1. Will Slovakia become the first country in which the European Commission will start acting under the new law? Or can we expect this in the case of Hungary, for which many provisions of the new act were tailor -made?
