Advent is one of the most beautiful and symbolic times of the year. For many, it is a time of contemplation, anticipation and preparation for Christmas.
The symbolism of Advent candles comes mainly from the Christian tradition. From Johann Wichern's first Advent wreath, 4 main candles have been "preserved", which symbolize the 4 Sundays until Christmas. Each of the candles carries a separate message.
We, at Rimavská SOBOTA, will light candles on Saturdays on the Main Square, always at the same time at 4:30 p.m.

2. Advent Saturday:
The second Advent meeting, during which we will light the 2nd Advent candle called PEACE, will be covered by the Roman Catholic Church with the dean PaedDr. Ph.Dr. Rastislav Polák, PhD.

3. Advent Saturday:
The third Advent candle, symbolizing FRIENDSHIP, will be lit by parish priest Mgr. Viktória Lisaková and the choir of the Evangelical Church of the Augsburg Confession sings for us.

4th Saturday of Advent
The fourth last candle in this time before Christmas, which carries the message of LOVE, will be lit by Mgr. Sándor Molnár and Timár Kovács Ildikó from the Reformed Christian Church.
We cordially invite you to the four Advent meetings, let us together remember all the messages that the four candles are meant to remind us of and prepare to celebrate the most beautiful holiday of the year, CHRISTMAS.
