💪🌴 It's time to do something fundamental, come and plant the savannah with us! 🦒
Together, we will help to green up and complete new areas of the area, which in the future will connect the prepared giraffe enclosure with other enclosures and rest areas.
We will plant a total of 44 trees, 70 hedges, 70 vines and up to 430 perennials and grasses, which will create new beds with an area of almost 900 m². The plants - from santolina, kniphopfia, yucca to savanna-like grasses - were chosen by the zoo architect so that they could withstand more demanding climatic conditions, while at the same time creating an authentic savanna atmosphere.

9:00 – 10:00 Registration of volunteers (at the entrance to ZOO Bratislava)
9:10 – 10:00 Coffee and tea in the background - gazebo, transfer to the planting sites
10:00 – 12:30 Morning planting
12:30 – 13:30 Shared lunch – vegetarian and meat stew
13:30 – 14:00 Afternoon planting, workshop or lecture from the zoo
14:00 – 16:00 Free end, possibility of a walk around the zoo
🌱 Why do we do it?
Essential weekend is about joint work that has meaning - we unite for a more beautiful and greener environment. This time, we are helping the zoo to develop the area, beautify the environment for visitors and animals, bring the atmosphere of the African country right in the heart of our zoo, and last but not least, bring more greenery to Bratislava. Finally, the beds will be covered with sand and fine red clay - to create the typical "reddish" tone of the savannah. Children can also take part in this final arrangement.
We look forward to seeing you at the zoo - it will be an essential Saturday, full of meaningful work, greenery, good mood and wimba way, and wimba way, and wimba way!
