The Bratislava Self -Governing Region (BSK) has again prepared another of the series of events called the Iron Curtain from the saddle of the bicycle for cycling and history enthusiasts. This time he has a subtitle on wandering Petržalka. On the way from the Old Bridge to the Penničiarov Square, you will follow the footsteps of the border patrols that guarded the dreaded and my tolls with a tossed iron curtain, and you will explore the slowly disappearing remains of not only physical obstacles between two worlds. The start is on Sunday 24. 8. 2025 at 10:00 am at the County Theater Arena. The whole route will be guided by the archivist and the iron curtain expert Peter Mikle.
Route:
1. Old Bridge - Petržalská side - start cycling and the oldest link to Petržalka. A place they searched for fleeing on their way to freedom.
2. The SNP Bridge - Petržalská Party - since the mid -70s, it has become an irreplaceable aid in escapes for freedom. It was used for visual observation of the border.
3. Lafranconi Bridge - Petržalská side - a bridge that disrupted the 40 years of the fixed border band. His construction was replaced by up to 5,000 foreigners, especially from Poland.
4. Opinion of the company PS Gate - Petržalka's border company position and a place of frequent escapes.
5. Signal wall mockup - mock -up in the real iron curtain.
6. Border crossing Petržalka - Berg - for many years the only road pass to Austria. A place full of curious escapes abroad.
7. Memorial H. Tautza - Kopčianska street - authentic location of detention and brutal attack on a young student from East Germany.
8. Border Square - since 1981 the public space dedicated to the cult of border guards - protectors.
The length of the route is 14.5 km and is suitable for families with larger children. At the start, all participants will receive a cycling map of Bratislava and Pomoravia.
