About event
The fourth concert of the Zemlinsky Quartet from the Echoes of Folklore series will take place on December 11. Vladimír Bukač will perform as a guest on the viola.
The 4plus 2024 series, organized by the Zemlinsky Quartet together with the Prague City Library, will this time reflect on the theme called Echoes folklore. It therefore takes a different path than many other festivals that commemorate the Year of Czech Music 2024. Many composers of classical music drew on folk music in their work. Folklore forms an inseparable and very essential part of the cultural environment of every nation, thus it is the (albeit sometimes unconscious) inspiration of every musical composer. But there are those who subscribe to this resource or even seek it outright. It is possible to remember Leoš Janáček or Béla Bartók, who searched for and collected folk songs and in many of their works they remind or even quote various folk songs not only of their own nation.
Program:
- Ján Levoslav Bella: String quartet in E minor In the "Hungarian style"
- Johannes Brahms: Quintet for two violins, two violas and cello in G major op. 111
- Cymbal music by Michal Horsák will play with wine in the foyer of the Municipal Library.
