A tender struggle that must not go unnoticed.
When we commemorate the Day of the Fight for Freedom and Democracy every year, we remember the names of the men who stood in the streets, on the stands or in the center of the action. But the revolution in 1989 was carried on their shoulders by women, activists, artists, students, mothers, daughters. Their "gentle struggle" was just as courageous and indispensable, only less visible. Without their spirit, preparedness, sacrifice and quiet courage, the freedom we live in today would not have a chance to win. At our talk, we will look together at the active and irreplaceable participation of women in the revolutionary changes of November 1989, at their part in the victory, which is little talked about, and at the debt that society still owes them.
Come with us to pay tribute to those who fought "gently", but tirelessly. To the women, thanks to whom we can not only celebrate freedom, but also live it.
The guests of the discussion will be women who experienced the Gentle Revolution, shaped it and still live by its values: Ľudmila Pastierová, Zuzana Mistríková, Oľga Gyárfášová and Zuzana Maďarová. Hosted by Jana Cviková.
