Women from Brukman: Screening of MDŽ
is the year 2001, and the Argentine economy, destabilized by chaos on financial markets and decades of neoliberal deregulation, is just collapsing. The country finds itself on the brink of the revolution. People go to the streets. The president flees from the country.
In the textile factory Brukman, its owners cease to pay wages and eventually leave workers to their fate. "Brukman women", however, determine their livelihood to fight. They will occupy the factory, and decide to run it together with their own - and without bosses.
The period documentary film shows how poor women without formal education can successfully manage the factory, defend it from owners and police, and eventually turn it into a functioning cooperative. The film is projected on the International Day of Women.
