About event

In 1933 there were 160,000 Jewish people living in Berlin, only a fraction of whom survived the Nazis. There is no exact figure for Neukölln, but at the moment there are 276 stumbling blocks for murdered people in the district (the number is constantly increasing).
And in many places one can find traces of Jewish people who actively helped shape society, be it as a school director or city councilor for education, as head of the city library or founder of a department store (and inventor of installment payments) or as entrepreneurs, especially in the clothing industry. What happened to the places? How are they used today? And what happened to the people? What connection was there to the progressive social democrats at the time?
And what is Jewish life like today in Neukölln, which has a strong Arab influence?
We will explore a (only small) section of the rich Jewish life in Neukölln.
