The part-time certificate course in Artistic Narration - Storytelling in Art and Education at the Berlin Career College of the Berlin University of the Arts offers the opportunity to learn or deepen the art of storytelling within one and a half years. The eighth edition of the training introduces the craft of storytelling with five modules over 18 months; This includes repertoire formation and narrative practice, didactic communication skills and the ability to reflect. Stage art, performance technology, pedagogy, dramaturgy and narrative theory are taught.
The further training has a strong practical relevance: the participants test themselves with public presentations, with storytelling in schools and institutions and also during an internship. In the seminars, participants work on their narrative techniques, on voice and movement, communication and improvisation skills, as well as on their own imagination and development of language images that are critical of discrimination. Above all, traditional but also autobiographical stories are told freely. The aspiring storytellers also learn to be their own directors, dramaturgs and authors. Many of the alumni were able to successfully establish themselves in the field of artistic storytelling, including as the founder of a certified further training course in Istanbul, as prize and competition winners, as newcomers at various festivals and as participants in international storytelling projects.
