About event

The Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes is launching a new regular discussion cycle called Hot Past. Its aim is to create an open space for dialogue on historical topics that are still resonating at present and affect social events, public debate and individual attitudes, as well as impact on future developments.

The first meeting takes place on Thursday 18th September at 5 pm at the Ark Palace on AntiSionism, Israel and My.

Discussion will focus on highly frequented questions: anti -ionism as a new form of anti -Hate hatred focused against Israel, its real impact on Czech Jews and the question of its return after October 23.

Nazi and persecuted communist regime, Věra Tydlitátová - founder of the league against anti -Semitism, signatory Charter 77, Emma Günsberger - chairwoman of the Czech Union of Jewish Youth. The whole debate is moderated by Ivo Cerman, historian of ÚSTR.

"I have chosen the topic deliberately - anti -Semitism and the relationship of Czech society to the state of Israel are questions that are concerned today. Often we tend to perceive Jewish experience exclusively by the prism of World War II, but it was - much wider and multilayered," Cerman said.

Entry to the event is free, but register in advance at the mail [email protected]
