About event
Former absurdity transformed into today's reality. A classic comic tragedy by the greatest author of absurdist drama, Eugène Ionesco, about the not futile, but actually completely useless search for meaning. And not only life. The life force without end always wins over an abstract attempt at understanding. And if the theater represents a concentrated symbol of our lives, then the vital,
fantastically intense, colorful, entertaining and lightning-changing acting of Eva Novotná and Michal Kern (Český lev 2023) is the truest meaning of staging the Židle production.
Ionesco's Chairs represent typical procedures of absurdist drama, similar to, for example, Samuel Beckett's famous Waiting for Godot. Also in this game, two people somewhere in an abandoned place at an unspecified time are waiting for guests who do not come. Or are they coming? With Eva Novotna and Michal Kern, we go beyond the limits of our imagination. Invisible guests will gradually sit down on the arranged chairs, and the audience will witness conversations about unfulfilled dreams, sadness, but also the joys of life. With its poetics, Židle is closely related to Bolko's former productions in Provázk.
