About event
We invite you to a travel evening in Žilina Smer Klub 77, in which we will introduce you to two journeys from completely different worlds. In the first, Lenka will take you to the Arctic Svalbard. In the second one, Nika and Nana will inspire you on what to buy your mother for her 50th birthday (we'll tell you – a plane ticket to Vietnam).

18:00 Lenka Kodajová - Arctic Svalbard
Svalbard, the Svalbard archipelago located approximately 1000 km north of Norway in the heart of the Arctic, is the place where the ordinary world ends and the raw polar wilderness begins. It is a land of endless snow, frozen fjords and silence, where in summer the sun does not set and shines 24 hours a day, while in winter there is a long polar night.
There are more polar bears than people and outside the settlements you only move with respect for nature, whether on dog sleds or on snowmobiles heading deep into the white infinity.
Experiences include entry to the blue glacier cave, where thousands of years old layers of ice hang overhead. The atmosphere is also completed by the abandoned Russian mining settlements, which act as frozen ghost towns. Svalbard is not just a destination, but a raw arctic experience, where one feels small in the middle of one of the last true wildernesses in Europe.
19:30 Katarína "Nana" Naništová and Nikola Kökényová: Vietnam with mom and a month after
What does a traveler buy for his mom on her 50th birthday? A plane ticket, after all. Two-way for mom and one-way for myself... but mom doesn't know about it yet. Our journey began in the former Saigon in the south of Vietnam and the task was to show my mother why we both fell in love with travel. We have two weeks and the goal is to reach the capital in the north of the country. We pass through the historic cities of Hue, Da Nang, Hoi An, the iconic Halong Bay, and along the way we learn about the Vietnam War, the influence of China, Japan and France, the cultivation of rice and the production of lanterns.
Mom gets on the plane and we continue at a slower pace to discover places that are not even in tourist guides - by foot, by night train all the way to the border with China. Now we get to know the local Hmong and Tai tribes, the taste of steamed bamboo and the sight of grilled dogs.
Vietnam is getting more popular every year, but you can still find places that are raw. And we'll take you there!
