In the middle of the madness of the 1st World War, most of the time supported the war efforts of their home states, in which millions of people were driven to the slaughterhouse due to superpower interests - completely contrary to the idea of internationalism proclaimed 2. Only the small groups of radical socialists, whose representatives met at the conference in the small Swiss village of Zimmerwald, openly opposed the imperialist war.
This historical event has finally completed the split between radical socialists and reformist social democrats. Her legacy is still topical even today during the war in Ukraine and other imperialist conflicts, in which only ordinary people on both sides are always the real victims.
