Ski expeditions in Sarek, Rondane and Dovrefjell National Parks
Get ready for a fascinating journey into the heart of Europe's last wilderness — Sarek National Park in Sweden. No roads, huts, marked trails or scooters... Just an endless Nordic landscape, where the nearest road is at least two days' walk away. Go with us to places where harsh conditions rule, the aurora borealis dances overhead and only the tracks of moose and wolverines indicate that you are not alone. — to get to know the world of polar explorers and experience what they have only read about in books so far. But the reality was harsher than they could have imagined: grueling wading through drifts, battling a blinding snowstorm, and constantly testing one's own limits. The winter transition of Rondane, Dovre and Dovrefjell national parks in Norway two years later brought new challenges — steep slopes, winter routes impassable due to lack of snow, rain or blue ice. Thanks to these experiences, however, they learned RESPECT for nature and learned the true meaning of the words ADVENTURE and AWESOME.
Can an ordinary mortal perform a similar action? What risks do you have to deal with in the open polar landscape? What equipment can you leave at home straight away and what should you take twice?
Michael Pokorný (*1976 in Brno)
he has crossed dozens of almost all important European mountain ranges — on foot, by bike or with skis on feet. His expeditions have repeatedly taken him to the Caucasus, to the mountains of Iran, to the islands of the Atlantic or to the five thousand volcanoes of Ecuador. It is literally true that he is at home in nature, and he purposefully devotes himself to exploring national parks and other naturally valuable areas. An important motivation for his travels is to inspire others to sometimes leave their comfort zone, push their limits and discover the world beyond their "backyard".
