About event

Homeschooling of neurodivergent children

What does learning look like when it doesn't have to happen between the four walls of the classroom, but can take place at home, in nature or at the child's individual pace? For many neurodivergent children, the normal school environment can be difficult - busyness, pressure to perform, a fixed schedule or insufficient consideration of their unique needs can lead to stress and hinder their development. Homeschooling can be a way for some families to create a more flexible and safe environment in which children can fully express their potential and learn in a way that makes sense to them.

Together we will look at what opportunities homeschooling brings, what challenges families face and what all is involved in supporting a child who learns differently.

What we will cover:
• How what does home education look like in Slovakia and what are the legal options for parents?
• What are the specifics of home schooling for children on the autism spectrum, with ADHD or other neurodevelopmental differences?
• What can an individually adapted educational approach bring to children and their families?
• What challenges and limitations does home schooling bring and how can they be overcome?
• Practical experiences and tips from parents, educators and experts who accompany children in learning at home.

The lecture will be followed by a discussion with room for questions, sharing of experiences and an open dialogue about what it means to learn outside the traditional school system - in a safe, respectful and supportive environment.

LIVING SPECTRUM – a cycle of lectures and discussions about neurodiversity
How to properly support neurodivergent children at home and at school? How to understand their world and create an environment in which they will feel understood and accepted?
The living spectrum opens space for dialogue and a deeper understanding of neurodiversity, breaks down prejudices and supports inclusive environments where diversity and differences are welcomed and respected.

💙 The project was created thanks to the support of the Slovak Savings Bank Foundation.
