So proud x Zojazz Stage Concert | Esmay Usmany & Naomi Seine-compelling, musical stories
In 2025, proud women celebrates its 10th anniversary in collaboration with the Zojazz Stage. From January to September 2025, female musical talent from 15:30 - 17:00 is in the spotlight.
After graduating from the Utrecht Conservatory, she produced various performances with which she toured throughout the Netherlands. Her work is characterized by intimate monologues and poetic listening songs. In her performance "Forward", Esmay investigates the heart of her origins by peeling her family history bit by bit. The grandparents of Esmay left Indonesia because of the war and came to the Netherlands. Parts of their souls were left in the rice fields, in the kampongs, in the markets ... This afternoon Esmay gives a glimpse into this "split" that can still be felt to date.
Naomi Seine (1998) is a singer, theater writer and performer. She studied at the Utrecht Conservatory and at the Musical Academy Song & Dance. Under production house Hollandsche Alys she wrote the show as clouds could kill that was received with praising reviews.
“I try to be honest and vulnerable on stage. I want to shine light on the power that is in vulnerability. ”
How do you learn to wear yourself when the soil regularly drops away from your feet? In Like Clouds, Kooden could investigate her life as a young adult with fear. In her life she has to deal with abandonment, loss, square fear, panic attacks, coercion and escapism. Naomi shares her view of fear through poetic lyrics and electronic music productions. Together with producer and keyboardist Hendrik Hendrik, she plays a part of this performance this afternoon.
Now book your tickets for an afternoon full of personal stories, impressive singing and compelling music.
