Zora Snake: COMBAT DES LIANES | TANEC PRAHA 2026

Combat des lianes is a captivating work growing from the roots of the forest and from the movements of people involved in the struggle for survival. In the darkness of the sacred forest, permeated by the memory of the ancestors, bodies appear - like vines that slowly and persistently make their way to the light and weave through the treetops - in direct confrontation with the deforestation that threatens the indigenous people of central Africa. In its scope and urgency, the work goes beyond the framework of a dance performance and touches on the deeper relationship of man to the environment he inhabits.


Zora Snake, a choreographer and dancer from Cameroon, in his work explores the relations of dominance and power and reflects in it an act of rebellion and a desire for justice, an effort to restore humanity. In close contact with the Baka communities in the equatorial forests, the performers absorbed the polyphonic rhythms and polyrhythmic movements of people whose living space is disappearing under the pressure of global forces.
