The bureaucracy musical by Glanz&krawall and Theater Thikwa
REJECTED! In December 2024, the musical theater combo Glanz&krawall and the inclusive theater Thikwa will tackle a complex of topics directly from hell: the German administration. What experiences do people with and without disabilities have in the administrative jungle? How must it feel to wield the official stamp? And how can we free ourselves from the powerlessness of excessive demands with the help of the fun-loving musical genre? THE BAG FROM THE ADMINISTRATION is a critical, inclusive reconstruction of the musical genre. Here, the musical singer Yasmina Hempel, the actors Chrissi Hilkens and Lola Fuchs and the Thikwa performers bring in their specific artistic backgrounds and, as a team, develop rewritings from literature, film and trash and stage the music newly written by musical composer Sarah Taylor Ellis and arranged by the Thikwa bandtakttikka. In this way, they create a shared administrative fantasy in which dreams and nightmares flow into one another when their own experiences of bureaucracy are re-enacted from the perspective of the powerful counterpart: the bags are followed by huge stamps, dance the stapler tap in expansive choreographies, sing about the love of the clip-on hand folder and the sublime feeling of finally rejecting an application. Against the administration, for the administration, as “bags”, but above all as people whose lives are so much more complex and diverse than they can be contained with the help of regulations.
