Sound jewelry is a workshop for beginning sound artists, computer music composers and all those who like to experiment and move. on the border between technology and art. It is also intended for those who are interested in sound synthesis, surround sound, sound programming in the open source language SuperCollider and are open to collaboration, new experience and experiment.

For those interested in experimental music or sound installations, SuperCollider is a "ticket to ride" - a tool of unlimited possibilities with as yet undetermined potential that can be used across topics and disciplines. Attention, addictive!

The workshop will include an accessible introduction to the SuperCollider language and to the creation and manipulation of sound with its help, and will provide hands-on experience in sound synthesis and collaborative sound experimentation.

The name of the workshop refers to the exhibition Contemporary jewelry as a communication tool taking place in the fall of 2024 in Bratislava's Medium Gallery, as part of which the workshop was created. However, sound jewelry can be made everywhere, not only in contact with physical jewelry. At the end, the sound objects and phenomena created at the workshop will be transformed into the creation of a sound "jewel" - a joint improvised sound intervention.

The workshop is part of the artistic-educational series Digital Instruments of the Združenia ooo aimed at exploring the relationship between digital technology and artistic practice.

⚫ ABOUT THE TEACHER ⚫
Fero Király (1979) is artist and educator. He deals with projects that extend into performance, sound art and sound installations, interpretations of contemporary music, development of his own audiovisual tools, as well as educational projects in the field of music, multimedia and creative programming. In doing so, he uses new frontier experimental positions, creates his own digital tools and likes to collaborate on projects with other artists with a multidisciplinary focus. Together with Eva Vozárová, she leads the civic association ooo, which is the main platform for these activities, and curates the intermediate international event JAMA.

In 2024, he collaborated on the project of the Slovak representation at the 60th Venice Biennale, in which he created music and a performance concept for Ota Hudec's Floating Arboretum project; premiered the audiovisual essay all You Can Eat (Király, Vozárová) and released the album How Much Can We Understand on Next Records. He works as a teacher at VŠVU, where he teaches the subject Sound.

⚫ PRACTICAL INFO ⚫
Participants need to have their own laptop with the SuperCollider program installed at the workshop ( https://supercollider.github.io/ ) and own headphones.
Previous knowledge of the SuperCollider language is an advantage, but not necessary.

The workshop will be held over two days at FUTUKA in Košice.
The capacity of the workshop is limited. Max 15 participants*boys.
Age of participation: 18+
