Príďte sa zoznámiť s Eszter Metzing na začiatku jej rezidenčného pobytu a zároveň sa rozlúčiť s Yurym Beryozkinom, ktorý u nás strávil uplynulé dva mesiace.
ESZTER METZING (HU) nám v rámci artist talku predstaví svoju tvorbu, projekty, na ktorých pracovala, aj témy, ktoré ju dlhodobo zaujímajú. Vo svojej práci prepája grafiku, textil, objekty a priestorové inštalácie a skúma vzťah medzi telom, pamäťou a materiálom. Zaujímajú ju tiež rôzne prepojenia medzi človekom a svetom, ktorý nás presahuje.
🪬 YURY BERYOZKIN (BY) svoju košickú rezidenciu naopak uzatvára. V rámci finálnej prezentácie s názvom The Great Goddess otvorí dvere svojho ateliéru a predstaví nám, na čom počas svojho pobytu pracoval.
Jednou z ústredných tém jeho aktuálnej tvorby je Veľká bohyňa – prastará postava, ktorá stelesňuje vzájomne prepojené cykly stvorenia, deštrukcie, smrti a znovuzrodenia, namiesto toho, aby predstavovala jedno konkrétne a nemenné božstvo. Vychádzajúc z práce Marije Gimbutas a ďalších výskumníkov sa Yury k tejto postave približuje prostredníctvom pravekých symbolov, keramiky, prírody a posvätnej geometrie ako k možnej podobe pamäti na svetonázor založený na vzájomnej závislosti a cyklickosti života, skôr než na hierarchii a dominancii.
V jeho tvorbe sa Bohyňa stáva spôsobom, ako sa znovu napojiť na pradávne formy chápania nášho vzťahu k Zemi, hmote a vesmíru.

Come and meet Eszter Metzing at the beginning of her residency and say goodbye to Yury Beryozkin, who has spent the past two months with us.
As part of her artist talk, Eszter Metzing will introduce her artistic practice, present some of her recent projects, and share the themes that have long been of interest to her. Her work brings together printmaking, textiles, objects and spatial installations, exploring the relationship between the body, memory and material. She is also interested in the connections between humans and the more-than-human world.
🪬 YURY BERYOZKIN (BY), on the other hand, is coming to the end of his residency in Košice. As part of his final presentation titled The Great Goddess, he will open the doors of his studio and show us what he has been working on during his stay.
One of the central themes of his current work is the Great Goddess—an ancient figure embodying the interconnected cycles of creation, destruction, death, and rebirth, rather than representing a single, fixed deity. Drawing on the work of Marija Gimbutas and other researchers, Yury approaches this figure through primeval symbols, ceramics, nature, and sacred geometry as a potential form of memory reflecting a worldview based on interdependence and the cyclical nature of life, rather than hierarchy and dominance.
In his work, the Goddess becomes a way to reconnect with ancient forms of understanding our relationship to the Earth, matter, and the universe.
