Andy Schofield

Andy Schofield is a saxophonist and arranger from Manchester, UK (b. 1966). In the years 2009-13 he lived in Berlin, now he lives in Prague.

Andy moved to Prague in 2013 after years in Great Britain and Europe, where he worked with, among others, important figures such as Kenny Wheeler, Bill Frisell, Peter Erskine, John Taylor, and Anthony Braxton. Andy exudes joy and energy, his playing combines technical prowess with deep knowledge of jazz tradition and emotional content. As an arranger, he collaborated with the BBC Big Band, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Orchestra, the Bulgarian Radio Big Band, the Czech Radio Big Band and most recently with the fantastic Prague Jazz Dock Orchestra, which he co-directs and leads the saxophone section. With his band, the Andy Schofield Sextet, he performs arrangements of songs ranging from jazz standards from the 1950s and 1960s to contemporary compositions, including his own.
