Charles Richard-Hamelin

Charles Richard-Hamelin was born in Lanaudière in the province of Quebec. In addition to him, professional musicians do not appear in the family - he was a father, an amateur pianist who first brought him to the instrument. As a five -year -old, he started to go to a private clock and the same teacher, Paul Surdulescu, led him until he was eighteen, while attending a normal elementary school and university. Only later Charles won a scholarship at Yale School of Music and graduated a few weeks ago at the Montreal Conservatory. “No one ever forced me to practice, I was just getting heavier and heavier songs and my transition between professional musicians was very gradual. As a result, I have a healthy relationship with music, ”says Richard-Hamelin. This healthy ratio between music and "normal life" also helped him cope with competition pressure. The already hardened competition in Montreal (2) came to Warsaw, which showed several major engagements. He took another trophy from Seoul: the third prize and the award for the best interpretation of Beethoven's sonata. Since then, the number of his performances in a year has doubled and his passport has been stamp of eleven different countries. While he used to have forty concerts a year, alone or with a piano trio and especially in Canada, he is now flying around the world and getting used to the nomadic way of life of the artist
