Czech Virtuosi

Czech Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra (artistic director K. Procházka) was founded and started its concert activities in January 1998. The members of the ensemble are concertmasters and wind soloists of two Brno ensembles – the Philharmonic and the Janáček Opera. The ensemble's repertoire includes works from the Baroque to the present, not only symphonic, but also sacred music (cantatas and oratorios) and opera. The domain of the orchestra is Mozart's music - in Vienna alone, the ensemble performed four Mozart operas. Czech Virtuosi are invited every year to important Czech and foreign music festivals (Austria, France, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Germany, Holland and others). The most successful include concerts in the famous Vienna Konzerthaus, Munich, Salzburg and a concert tour to Japan in 2003. They are currently invited to Italy, France, Belgium and Riga. More than 130 excellent instrumentalists, opera singers and choirs and three dozen conductors from literally all over the world have already been guests with the ensemble. Special guests are regularly introduced to the home audience in Brno - Advent and Christmas concerts in cathedrals dedicated to the music of Baroque masters have already become a tradition. In addition to a profile CD with music by Respighi, Prokofiev and Dvořák, the Czech Virtuosi also recorded a unique series of CDs for the Belgian company PHAEDRA, such as instrumental concerts by Belgian Mozart's contemporaries.
