Dunaj
Dunaj, which has featured such personalities as Iva Bittová, Pavel Koudelka, Pavel Fajt or Pavel Richter, is a Czech alt-rock band, formed in 1986 in Brno.
It ended its activity in 1998, when its frontman Jiří Kolšovský died at only 43 years old. She briefly returned to the stage in 2002. In 2015, the band Dunajská vlna started playing her repertoire live again, in which the two original members of Dunaj, bassist Vladimír Václavek and guitarist Josef Ostřanský, were supplemented by various drummers, e.g. Michaela Antalová, or Dano Šoltys.
In 2019, the band resumed its activities in the composition of Vladimír Václavek – guitar, bass guitar, vocals, Josef Ostřanský – guitar, vocals, Pavel Koudelka – drums, percussions, vocals.
In 2019, the feature film The Danube of Consciousness directed by David Butula, produced by Gnomon Production in co-production with Czech Television Brno. In the period summer to winter 2021, the band performed together with Iva Bittová. Together they performed the repertoire from the group's debut album from 1988, performing together after more than 25 years. In autumn 2022, she released the studio album Za vodou.
