Filterheadz
Filterheadz is the name of a Belgian techno DJ and producer duo. The members of the group are brothers Bert and Maarten Wilmers. The first step in their musical career was performing in pop bands in the mid-80s. Bert performed here with guitar, Maarten as drummer. Their models at the time were groups like U2, The Police and Simple Minds, and the influence of these bands can still be seen in their work today.
After a series of pop, rock, heavy metal and rhythm and blues projects with not too much success, they threw themselves into the field of electronic dance music. The first remixes were songs by musicians such as Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work and David Morales. This also determined their initial orientation to the American house scene. In 1998 they signed a contract with the Belgian label Headroom Music and after several publications under different pseudonyms they decided on their current name Filterheadz. At the same time, Jo Casters' publicity grew and he commissioned several remixes from them. Their cover of Minimalistix's Struggle for Pleasure became a club hit. Inspired by Deep Dish and John Digweed, they plunged into the waters of progressive trance and created another series of club hits with their remixes of Hooj and Platypus hits. Contact with Intec Records brought the track "Sunshine" to light, which was played in Ibiza as a summer song. Remixes by Green Velvet, Bedrock, Eddie Amator, Tiësto and Oliver Lieb followed. After releasing the best-selling techno record of the year, they started looking for musical diversity again and released their first multi-genre CD "Tribalicious". This album is a mix of electronic and independent music.
