Headwreck
Headwreck is an Australian band from Brisbane (Queensland), which has been active since 2019. The band's work straddles the border between nu-metal, metalcore and alternative metal. Their sound is characterized by a combination of heavy guitars, alternating aggressive and clean vocals, electronic elements and melodic passages.
In 2021, the band released their debut EP Glamourise Demise, which presented their mixture of melodic hardcore, electronic elements and a modern metalcore sound. This recording was followed by the EP Reflection Room from 2023, in which Headwreck expanded their sound with more complex instrumentation, more expressive electronics and a more dynamic vocal approach.
During 2024 and 2025, the band released several singles, among them Buzzsaw, based on industrial elements and the contrast of raw and clean vocals, LOW BLOW! or Filet-O-Fish, which further develop the energetic and experimental character of the work.
The latest stage is the EP Attitude Adjustment from October 2025. This recording represents the current form of the Headwreck sound — a combination of nu-metalcore energy, melodic motifs, industrial and electronic textures and straightforward, unpolished expression.
Current line-up the band consists of Connor Hickman (vocals), Jamo Benadie (guitar/vocals), Dayne Paix (bass/vocals) and Colby Horton (drums).
Headwreck's musical development shows a constant effort to combine intensity, melodic and electronica-enriched sound, with the band working with contrasts between hardness, emotion and dynamic changes. Their work is based on authenticity, experimentation with form and the ability to connect aggressive and melodic elements into a cohesive whole.
