HRTL

Leoš Hort aka HRTL is an interpreter of modular synthesizers, the founder of the Brno-based cassette publishing house Bükko Tapes and an active member of the well-known collective Bastl Instruments, which creates hand-made open-source musical hardware.

Leoš Hort aka HRTL stands out against hyper-technological times, when producers practically only work with an abundance of samples, or, on the contrary, reject them with raw tribal techno. HRTL limits itself by using only one instrument - a modular synthesizer. However, working with truncated sound options and minimal means allows him to spread unprecedented genres. It organically transitions from atmospheric techno to danceable house, ambient interludes and dance music "seasoned" with a lo-fi approach. He started composing club music in 2013 and debuted on his own label Bükko Tapes in 2014 with the EP Hydroxide, which he followed up a year later with the album Dataloss.
