Jan Sahara Hedl
Jan Sahara Hedl, sometimes abbreviated to just Sahara, is a Czech singer, lyricist and songwriter, former member of the groups Precedens and Duševní hrob. He released several single albums himself, of which the third album, Matka zebra (2001), met with the greatest success. He played the piano since childhood and later studied art at the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Prague, where he met Martin Němec. Together with him he founded the Soul Grave and not long after Precedent. Hedl left the group in 1984.
Ten years later he released his first solo album called Tajnej svatej (1994) and in the following year he again joined the band Precedens and accompanied by her, he recorded the album Crazy Monday (1995). His last solo album is Matka zebra from 2001. He is also the author of the texts for the musicals Excalibur (2003) and The Picture of Dorian Gray (2006). . He is also the author of several texts for Luboš Pospíšil. His latest albums were released in collaboration with Blanka Šrůmová and Hedl's band Něžná noc - Don't be afraid (2016), That's how things are (2018) and I play, I play (2024).
