Janáčkova filharmonie Ostrava
The Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava is a sought-after and successful ensemble with which conductors (Ch. Arming, D. Raiskin, A. Boreyko) and musicians (G. Capuçon, L. Batiashvili, A. Netrebko, S. Trpčenski) of the world format. Since the 2020/2021 season, Vassila Sinaisky has been working as chief conductor and artistic director.
JFO follows the tradition of the Ostrava Radio Orchestra and was founded as such in 1945. It quickly built a good reputation, playing on world stages (New York, Seoul, Paris, Beijing, etc.), he collaborated with important soloists (V. neumann, K. Ančerl, Ch. Mackerras, P. Domingo, D. Ross) and his recordings were released by many prestigious record companies.
During the 2022/2023 season, the Ostrava cinema Vesmír became the venue of the orchestra, as the home stage of the House of Culture is undergoing renovation and the orchestra is looking at the addition of a concert hall with world-class acoustic parameters according to the design of the architectural studio Steven Holl Architects from New York.
