Jerry Bergonzi is an American jazz tenorsaxophonist, composer and teacher.

Jerry Bergonzi is a purist. He loves the saxophone deeply and likes to practice, enthusiastic about the idea that he can do something he couldn't before. It reharmonizes the standards by stretching the chord procedures beyond their farthest boundaries, because it wants to be a challenge as a soloist.

For Bergonzi, it's all about music. The award and fame are distant. In a world that rarely appreciates such devotion, he has earned his life in Boston, where he can compose music, perform with his quintet every week and teach the New England Conservatory without limiting learning plans. He spends about 130 days a year on his travels. All this balances a rich family life: with his wife, pianist Jeri Dimarco Bergonzi, have two children.
