Karel Dohnal

Karel Dohnal is a Czech clarinetist.

The clarinetist Karel Dohnal is a graduate of the Ostrava Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, a laureate of international music competitions in Prague, Rome, Bayreuth, Seville and London, but also a very active a soloist whose concert performances could be appreciated by listeners in most countries of Europe, Asia and North and South America.

He expanded his studies at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, the Berlin Universität der Künste and the N.A. Rimsky Conservatory -Korsakova in St. Petersburg. He himself is also active as a pedagogue at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava and regularly teaches at many interpretation master courses here and abroad.

An exceptional performance in which he also applies his comedy and acting talent. He is one of the few clarinetists in the world who perform this extremely demanding work. His recordings also include a CD on which the clarinet concerts of Rudolf Kubín, Jean Françaix and the concert symphony of Miloslav Kabeláč are represented. Karel Dohnal's most recent achievements include solo performances with the Bamber Symphony, the Essen Philharmonic, the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Györ Philharmonic, the Ostrava Janáček Philharmonic or the USC Symphony Orchestra.

As a solo clarinetist, he also collaborated with, for example, the BBC Symphony Orchestra London or Solistes Européens Luxembourg. He is a member of the orchestra of the State Opera in Prague, PhilHarmonia Octet, Trio Amadeus and Arundo Quartet.
