Lykke Li

The songs of the Swedish singer Lykke Li are a frequent choice of film and TV series creators, and the producers of the world's biggest stars regularly participate in the albums. I follow rivers is indeed a big hit, but as Consequence of Sound writes, especially the latest album So sad so sexy brings "a top-notch reinvention of Lykke Li" as an artist rehabilitating pop in its various forms even to the ears of a more demanding listener. Lykke Li has collaborated with the likes of U2, A$AP Rocky, Robin Schulz and on the album of director David Lynch. Her songs appeared in the soundtracks of the films The Twilight Saga: New Moon, Pretty Little Liars, Divergent Series: Insurgent and in the series The Vampire Diaries, she also acted as a model for various brands or as an actress in the Scandinavian crime film Tommy. Among her biggest hits are songs like I follow rivers (which became a #1 hit in seven European countries), Until we bleed, Get some, Little bit, No rest for the wicked, I'm good, I'm gone, Dance Dance Dance, Gunshot, Hard rain, Deep end or the track with Mark Ronson Late Night Feelings.

Lykke li released her debut EP Little Bit in October 2007, while Stereogum immediately identified her as an artist to watch. Her first album Youth Novels was released in 2008 and was produced by Björn Yttling from Peter Björn and John. The album won the European Border Breakers Award for European Music Newcomer of the Year. Yttling also contributed to the follow-up album Wounded Rhymes from 2011, for which she won two Swedish Grammy Awards, while I follow rivers became festival anthem of the year at the European Festival Awards. The album made it into the year-end TOP 10 according to The New York Times, or into the selection of the 50 best albums of the year according to The Guardian. In 2014, she released her third album I Never Learn, which was included in the top twenty by magazines such as Rolling Stone and Vulture.

Her fourth studio album So sad so sexy from June 2018 also had great reviews. In addition to Lykke Li, Malay (Lorde, Frank Ocean) and an extremely long list of contributors contributed significantly to the album. The songs are mainly the work of Lykke Li and the Californian singer-songwriter Ilsey Juber (Beyonce, Drake, Kanye, Majid Jordan). The album and the song Deep End were included among the best acts of the year by several editors of The Guardian. The hit with Mark Ronson Late Night Feelings was again included by the journalists of the same media among the best songs of 2019. The same opinion was shared by the editors of the Fader portal and the weekly magazine Time.
