Martina Trchová
Martina Trchová is a Czech singer and songwriter.
She has been performing on Czech stages since she was seventeen. During that time, she received several awards for her author's work, appeared on TV in the programs Na moll and Pod lampiony and in 2005 Indies records released her debut album Freshly Painted, which was highly rated by critics. From 2009 to 2022, Martina performed with Patrik Henel and Radek Polívka as a trio. Together with her trio, she received the Anděl award (2016) for her album Holobyt in the "Folk & Country" category.
The work of the currently Brno-based singer-songwriter draws not only from the blues, but also from jazz or folk. In her singing, she moves between fragility and forcefulness with a hip-hop cadence, and in her lyrics she can be harshly self-questioning, but also playful and smiling. Currently, she has returned to performing solo, this time with a looper, and her performances tend to be all the more urgent and raw.
